Choosing Your Provider

One of the best things you can do for your birth is to hire a birth team that routinely does what you have on your birth wish list. This will make things so much easier for you and your partner, and you will likely have a more positive experience!

A birth doula can help you discover and understand your personal birth philosophy by providing evidence based information. They will help you prepare and execute your birth plan, including back up plans.

You will next want to discuss your plan with your doctor or midwife as it pertains to your personal health history. Ideally, most of the things you are planning your provider already does in a typical birth.

In other words: if you are hoping for a natural birth, don’t go with a doctor that has never witnessed birth untouched.
