If you are scheduling a Cesarean- you are still in charge of your birth! You have options and can make a birth plan based on you and your partners preferences.
If you are not planning on a Cesarean birth, you may want to have a back up cesarean birth plan to use just in case you change your mind or an emergency arises.
All birth is beautiful and all types of birth can be empowering experiences.
With a cesarean you can ask for:
Immediate skin to skin
Hands or arms to not be tied down
To be awake
Delayed cord clamping
Immediate breastfeeding
Newborn procedures to be done at your chest
A clear separating fabric so you can see baby emerge
Calming music in the ER
Your partner and doula to be with you
Ask for uterus to be closed with two layers of stitches (this impacts future pregnancies)
